Biography

I am a mixed media artist and teacher who lives and works in the Pershore area. I have always had an interest in things creative and my early passion was to become a fashion and textile designer.

I trained in art at Cardiff in the 1970s, specialising in oil painting and textile design. I then qualified as a teacher and have spent most of my career working with primary school children.

In recent years, as a teacher, I have focussed on developing the arts through exploring a cross curricular approach to learning, with art as a starting point.

2007 was an extremely successful year and my work received recognition from Worcestershire County Arts in Education, helping to support a successful application from my school to receive the Artsmark Gold award.

As a result of county recognition, I have been invited to teach art workshops for teachers — something of which I hope to do more in the future.

I have been running art classes in rural villages for the past 18 months. My main aim being to develop confidence and skills through teaching many techniques, then encouraging individuals to express their own ideas, whilst supporting them and providing technical and practical advice where necessary.

This is a new venture and I am hopeful of the opportunity to run classes for our rural communities and to provide opportunities to a wider audience.
