Honfleur is one of my special places. It's no wonder the French impressionists made it their home. I love the buildings, the unexpected alleyways, the cobbled squares and the beautiful harbour. The charisma of summer evenings, the music, the chattering of people, the warmth.
The light is so different from England. The water dances with reflection and colour. The shadows throw soft-focus light along the ground. In my paintings I have tried to capture the visions that remain in my mind of happy times there.
